What You Must Know About Teen Acne Troubles

If you know the causes of pimples, you can better understand the treatment of teenager acne problems. When we think of teens, we think of acne. Though it is not much dangerous as the name “acne” looks, the aftermaths of the disease such as scars, are really disturbing teens a lot and affect their self esteem. As we all know, when the present generation is giving much importance to beauty and health, anything like this will be a real problem.

1. Washing your face 2 or three times a day helps control oil that can cause acne. Soap containing salicylic acid controls acne by exfoliating the top skin layer. This prevents oil from clogging pores making skin look healthier. Salicylic acid is a weakened form of beta-hydroxy, which is used in other treatments such as dandruff. The percentage of beta-hydroxy depends on what is being treated. Soaps containing salicylic acid can dry the skin if skin is sensitive so try using a moisturizer that does not contain oil.

2. Hormones are strong instigators of acne. Boys going through puberty have an increase of testosterone and this leads to an increase of oily skin. Young men may need to wash their faces more than once a day to control the acne caused by hormones and puberty. There are oral contraceptives out on the market today that help young women control their acne by controlling hormone surges during the premenstrual stage.

3. In some more severe cases of acne, antibiotics and photo therapy may be needed. Blocked pores are a perfect place for bacteria to grow. This causes pain inflammation and infection. Antibiotic treatment is needed to treat the bacteria. Photo therapy has been  shown to also kill bacteria is shorter amount of time than antibiotics. In many instances,  the antibiotics and photo therapy are used concurrently.

4. Oil blotters are a hot item that came out a couple years ago, and has gained in  popularity. Oil blotters help to control oil on the face. Oil blotters are made of linen or  tissue that absorbs the oil from the face. This keeps the pores and glands from becoming  blocked. These items are becoming more popular and can be used frequently through out the day with out smudging make-up.

5. It is a little known fact that stress related factors lead to the production of some hormones related to emotional activities. These hormones in turn act as a reason to have teen acne problems.

6. Exposure to some of the harmful chemicals having toxic effects or intake of some medicines having very dangerous side effects though they may be helpful for some other diseases will also act as reasons for teen acne problems, though the level of intensity may vary.
